I make a small premise describing as, big way, has arrived to have systems of so sophisticated radio control today. In this there is no anybody pretension in to grant the curiosity of the reader, that rhyming http://www.aereomodellismo.org/didattica/cosa_aerom.htm to the link where it will find an ample treatment of the matter from one of the greatest aeromodellists: Loris Kanneworff.
Since the dawns of the aeronautics the flying models have belonged to this jaw of the science and the technique. You are enough to think about the squirts of Leonardo da Vinci and to the 800 models of the first ones, for example.

Ala Leonardo da Vinci

Then the flying models have been used always for understanding and to experiment the flight from the man, becoming then one of the pastimes between the more technicians and suits.

Modello antico

The first footsteps of aeromodellismo with models were made for free flight: at first simply launching the model from a high ground and observing the flight of it, then using helixes it propelled from an elastic skein. The natural evolution of the propulsion to elastic they were the micromotoris to burst. Even if the autonomy of flight increased, the problems of control of the model remained.

The conditions of the wind and the formation of the thermal ones created the condition of "loss in cloud" or "lost to the sight" of the model, that you/they guaranteed in competition yes the victory to the holder, but also the total loss of the model.

They were born so the first methods to check the models during their flight. To the beginning with leverismi, operated to time through a fuse, that the order of the subject model to the ascensional strength of the air modified, making him/it enter grapevine; then with subject microinterruttori to the terrestrial magnetism to check its direction maintaining the model controvento the more possible. But all these shrewdness were out of the manipulation in real time from the pitcher of the order of the model.

The true footstep in before there was with the advent of the interrupter radiocomando. Practically the pilot operating an interrupter, it sent an impulse to the radio on board of the model. This moved a connected relay to a loaded escapement to elastic, that operated in turn the leverismo for the directional solo. The models in fact they had diedro haul accented and plain of quota fixes, so that to make them climb through thin motor to exhaustion of the fuel, and to check its tacking during the descent operating the famous interrupter.

All of this was some one improvement in comparison to the past, but the revolution still had to arrive.

In the sixty, in fact, it is born and the king of all the specialties of the dynamic modelling spreads: the proportional radio control.

What does it mean??

It means that the commands sent to the models were not more than the turn on-out, but sensitive type to the to vary some position assumed by the levettes (stick) set on the radiocomando. This opened the modelling, and particularly the aeromodellismo, to new and endless perspectives.
The first proportional radios were to 2/3 channels, in modulation of ampleness (AM), heavy and bulky. For our fortune in the field of the electronics the progress have been enormous, therefore today we find again there, to costs accessible to the more, computerized radiocomandis to 5/6/7 channels, that mix among them the various functions, memorize a big number of formulations etc. etc.

The two photos represent two modern radiocomandis. In the first one the Eclipse 7 QPCM is seen, an entrylevel to 7 channels. In the second a Futaba T14MZ, the top as it regards the complexity and the cost among the radiocomandis.

Lately he/she wonders us, above all the veterans of this magnificent hobby, to thing you/they could ever serve a so' big number of channels and the their relative miscelazioni, not to speak of the various conditions of flight preimpostate.

But go with order!! Does thing first of all mean channel??? And miscelazione???

We will analyze in another article the various components of the chain of the radiocomando.

For now you are enough for you to know that to every channel it corresponds an active component that operates the various parts of the model. For example the servocomandis that move the mobile surfaces of the glider (ailerons, rudder of depth, hook for the drawing) or electronic intruttori that operate photographic cars, turn on and they extinguish lights, they activate smoke. Every single function occupies a channel. Then, for radiocomandare correctly a glider with the ailerons, the directional one and the depth we will need a radiocomando with at least 3 proportional channels.

The miscelazione other is not that a function of, note, mixture among the various transmitted commands. But this opens another chapter that I will try to treat apart.

Thanks to these shrewdness given by the technology, we can quietly see today on the italic slant and not (Italian Database Slant ) gliders with openings alari of 4/5 meters, and straight of 9 meters, with staircases of reproduction from the 1/4 (considered small) to the 1/2,33 (practically a small ULM Laughing).

But whether to fly with a glider, and for more launched by the top of a mountain???
